The next American Idol comes home...

Today was quite the exciting day in little old Utah, David Archuleta the 17 year old Murray resident who is tipped to win this year's American Idol came home for the day! He really is quite good and Anna and I have been voting for him all along. He is in the top 3 and outshines the competition. Today was officially declared, by Governor Huntsman, David Archuleta Day and as such there was lots going on in his honor.
The day kicked off with an appearance at the Gateway, which just so happens to be right across the street from my office so, of course, I had to head over and catch a glimpse of him. I didn't wait in the huge line to meet him but did get to watch what was going on from my vantage point, I even ended up getting my head in a news station pic- see below. He arrived in a huge limousine, and as he pulled up, his fans just went crazy. There seriously were thousands of people there, the line to meet him just seemed never ending - I'm sure a lot of people went home disappointed. At one point, David turned around and was wiping tears away because he was just so overwhelmed - ahhhhhh. After he was done at the Gateway he went to his high school (which is right by our house) and they had a big party thing (also known as a 'pep rally') for him - we didn't go to that though as they predicted 10,000 people would show up. After he was done there, he headed to the Energy Solutions Arena to sing the National Anthem at the Jazz game. I really can't believe how many people showed up to meet him this morning - but I guess when you are the favourite to win the most watched show on TV - that should be no surprise.
I was glad I went over to the Gateway and got to witness the craziness,
although I didn't see much of David (he is quite short) or really hear him (every time he spoke the screaming was super loud). Anywho -
GO DAVID!!!!!!!!

Wow your receding hairline is evident even from that far away! Just kidding, Paul!

So fun that you got to see him at the Gateway...I went to the high school pep rally! What a TOTAL blast! I took Brooke and Haylie with me. It was so fun to see the support for David, and quite funny to see the many girls bawling their eyes out over David. I had hoped that they would show him on t.v. at the Jazz game, but I guess we'll just have to wait to see that tomorrow night on Idol.
I love David's voice, and he is such a cutie ;) Hope he wins!
