Valentine's Day is a magical day...

I always thought it would be fun to have a child around the same time as some of my friends or siblings, so as to have children around the same age, but after it took us so long for pregnancy to become a reality for us, I thought, well, there's no way I could really have any control over something like that.
Well....interestingly enough, once we announced to our families, we came to find out that we're not the only ones due on the romantic holiday. It turns out that Darren's brother Bryce and wife Kelly are due then, as is Vicki's brother Nate and wife Narin. And today I just found out that my favorite cousin growing up, Taryn and her husband Sam, are also due February 14! For those of you others who have been pregnant before, is this a common occurrence?? It can't be something in the water, because one of those couples lives in Texas and another in Denver. Well, whatever the case, it's still pretty cool!

Fatty McButterpants

Look, I'm going to be pretty honest here: I'm chubby. I'm going to warn you now, so that the next time some of you out-of-towners lay eyes on me, you will remember that I've prepared you for Mrs. Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. Paul tries to be nice and say, "You're not fat, you're pregnant". Boy, husbands don't get it sometimes, do they? That phrase does not make me feel better about myself. What we really want to hear is, "You're the most slender, beautiful pregnant woman I've seen so far in my entire 31 years of existence". That's more like it!
What's pretty bad is, at this point, I can't even do the elastic trick on my old jeans anymore, because I can't even do the zipper up. Nope. I'm wearing the gaucho pants full-time, people! I was also under the mistaken impression last week that I could wear a button-up shirt to work. I tried on 3 before giving up. Let's just say I've grown in more areas than one. This also includes, but is not limited to, my face, arms, bottom, and my ring finger, which was being deprived of circulation until Paul bought me a beautiful new sterling silver & cubic zirconia replacement at Claire's. I've got to hand it to Paul, though, he's watched me do some unpleasant things so far, and has even managed to clean up after me, so I can't complain.
Anyway, I just thought I'd share the joy that is pregnancy has been thus far. I know you're probably thinking I'm nuts, because I whined for the longest time about the fact that I desperately wanted to be pregnant, and now that that wish has come true, why should I be complaining? Well, it's still unpleasant, but I'm grateful nonetheless.
If you feel like sharing a funny pregnancy story (clumsiness, vomiting in inconvenient places, forgetting what your husband just said to you 20 seconds ago, etc...), or a craving you gave in to (chicken noodle soup + cottage cheese = crazy delicious), please share!!!

Anna's mini High School Reunion

Yesterday Anna and I (and George) headed over to the Cottonwood Complex park to meet up with a bunch of friends from her Granite High School Days. This year Anna was meant to have her ten year reunion but it didn't happen, so yesterday was a mini ten year reunion! It was fun, until it started raining (hailing actually) and was nice to see everyone and catch up. I also got to hear a very funny story about when Anna was in high school and was playing some games with her friends (the ones in the picture), they were playing outside and I guess being a little noisy and someone called the police and told the police that there was gang activity!! So they sent along several police cars and had them all up against a wall. Oh my this made me chuckle, I think the funniest thing is that this group of kids couldn't have been further from gang members, they were all student body officers, sterling scholars, seminary council members - in short they were a little tiny bit dorky (I love you honey!). Well anyway it was a fun little reunion, here's the picture:

Georgie takes a bath

The other evening, me, Anna and Georgie took a little walk and little George decided that she was going to go a tad crazy and chase a bird (which I have to say was terribly cute as she really runs quite fast when she wants), which entailed George leaping into a small stream of nasty goopy water - hence the bath. Now Georgie, like most dogs I'm sure, does not particularly enjoy her bath, but 1) she looks mighty cute when being bathed and 2) she enjoys running around the house like a crazy fool afterward, trying to dry herself. Anyway onto the photos - here you go!

Georgie prior to her bath - she doesn't look too dirty her, but believe me (she does look like she's smiling though doesn't she)

Georgie really not very happy

Ahhhh - look at the cute wet puppy!

Here she is about to start running around, I tried to take some pictures but she just appeared as a blur. However, her crazy running always starts with a little snout rubbing on the rug, which she is just about to do!

An exciting new movie

On Friday night we, as i'm sure many of you did also, watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics (which we thought was pretty amazing by the by), and we kept seeing this movie being advertised. Now can I just say that we are suckers for LDS movies as it is (Beauty and the Beast - A Latter Day Tale, was my personal favorite), so it's no surprise that we thought this movie looks good. However the thing that is surprising is that the movie, The Errand of Angels, looks like it is telling the story of Anna's mission! According to the trailer the girl goes on a mission and has some experiences that mirror Anna's, (and that's as much as I will say in case any of her former comps stumble upon our blog and take a looksy), although I wonder if the girl in this movie falls madly in love with an English Elder.....Anyways the movie looks really good and we are excited to see it, so enjoy the trailer!

Some news (and rather exciting news at that!)

You may have noticed that the posts on our blog have not been too interesting of late and that's because we have been keeping a big secret and have been waiting to post our truly exciting news. We are having a baby!!!! Yippee!!!!! Anna is three months pregnant and we just had our first scan. Everything is looking great, although Anna is really not feeling too well (although everyone tells us will pass soon). I've posted copies of the scan that we had (I circled which part is the head as the scan pictures didn't scan onto my computer too well). The baby was moving around like there was no tomorrow and the doctor said everything looks great. We can't believe that we are finally going to be welcoming a little one into our family, it's certainly been a long, long road. We are absolutely thrilled and feel so lucky and blessed, and are so excited to share our news with you all. Anna is due around Feb 14th/15th and we just cannot wait. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support, this has been such a journey for us and we know that although this next part of the journey is just beginning, this is the fun part!! (as soon as Anna is feeling better!) Also because we are having a baby we decided that it was time to take another trip to Europe, we leave on Sept 19th (Anna's 2nd trimester) for two weeks and hopefully we will know the sex of the baby by then, as my Mum has some serious shopping she wants to do, but more on that trip later. WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!!!!
