Poppy's Blessing

As you may have noticed, Poppy is now the subject of every single blog post! We think she's pretty cute, and since we spend most of our time talking about, looking at, feeding, listening to, consoling and paying attention to Poppy, as you can see everything revolves around her! So, here are the pictures after her blessing, which took place on Sunday March 29th:

Poopy Poppy!

Time for another update on our little sweetheart, Poppy is doing well and getting cuter and fatter by the day. She is also hitting all of the traditional baby milestones, two of which she actually mastered at the same time. The first skill she has recently developed is smiling, which is absolutely adorable and melts your heart. The second skill, which I'll be honest is not as cute and endearing is the ability to poop out of her diaper. She has actually been putting these skills into action at the same time, as the photos show - the above photo is the front view and the below photo is the back view - nice. Luckily Anna had the pleasure of changing this particular diaper, but I'm sure my time will come! In other Poppy news, we are having her blessing this coming Sunday (the 29th) as Nannie Sue (my Mum) will be in town. Nannie Sue arrives tomorrow and will be here for two weeks. We are all very excited to see her and for her to meet Poppy, we have lots of fun things planned. Then on April 22nd Grandpa Leggett and Sue (my Dad and his wife) arrive for ten days, we are also excited for them to come and meet Poppy too. Here's to a busy, and probably quite poopy, month! We'll post pictures of all the fun things we get up to.

Her name is Poppy

Now I am fully aware that Poppy is not the most common name in this here country (although there is that actress Poppy Montgomery), however I am still surprised that many people have never heard of the name before, it seems that we consistently have to say "Poppy - like the flower" to people who have that slight bemused look on their faces when we first say the name. Luckily is is only a few people that act like we have named our daughter this bizarre made up name, most people tell us how much they like the name. Anyway I just wanted to share a little story, and also have an excuse to post some new pictures or Popsicle.
So we were in Target (surprise, surprise) the other day - one of Poppy's two outings, so far - and this very nice lady comes up and starts asking about Poppy. She is saying things like, "she's so cute, how old is she?" etc, etc. She then asks the inevitable, "what's her name?", to which I reply "Poppy". Her face then changes to the bemused look I mentioned above, so I then offer further clarification by saying "like the flower". To which the lady responds "Puppy?", so I say "no - Poppy", this back and forth Puppy/Poppy exchange continues, until I give up and walk away, as I do I overhear this lady telling another shoppe, "they named their baby Puppy, now that's a name!" I do have to point out that this lady had two hearing aids and I, obviously, have a small accent - so I'll put it down to that. All in all it was most funny and now I am sure that this lady will participate in the 'crazy Utah baby names' conversations by adding, "well I met this couple who named their baby Puppy!". So if you ever hear about a couple naming their baby Puppy, it was us and we in fact named her Poppy! Anywho her she is in all her cute glory.

4 weeks...time flies!

Little Miss Poppy will be 4 weeks old this week! It doesn't feel like it's been that long since we brought her home from the hospital, but here we are. And since we spend most of our time these days learning how to take care of a new baby, there isn't much to update except that we're loving being new parents. I've decided that I officially hate daylight savings time. I'm not sure if the people who chose to put it in place had little babies, because if they did, they wouldn't have done it. Just when I thought I was getting her into a routine, the time change goes and destroys it all. Although, admittedly, Poppy slept for almost 7 hours last night because she was so tired. Much to his dismay, Paul had to return to work last week, and I had to go in today for a few hours, because nobody else can figure out how to do my job for me while I'm gone. Right now we're looking forward to Poppy getting bigger and hopefully smiling soon. Paul's family will also be visiting soon to meet their new granddaughter, so stay tuned for more!
